ICNC works to strengthen the companies in the Kinzie Industrial Corridor on Chicago's Near West Side. In addition to representing and providing assistance to hundreds of companies in its community, ICNC owns and operates Make City, a small business incubator which houses 100 small business tenants in its 416,000 square foot facility.
ICNC also co-owns The Hatchery, a food and beverage manufacturing incubator in Chicago’s East Garfield Park neighborhood which assists food & beverage entrepreneurs grow their businesses. This facility is a one-stop-shop aiming to solve three major challenges in the industry: access to production space, financing, and resources.

POSITION ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Development Manager will be responsible for generating grant and sponsorship revenue for the organization. In collaboration with the CEO and others from the management team, the DM creates the organization’s annual development plan. The DM identifies and pursues funding opportunities from corporate, philanthropic, and government sources and assures that those relationships are appropriately stewarded across the organization. The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understand and effectively communicate ICNC’s mission and Theory of Change to relevant stakeholders
- Work with program staff to understand organization’s activities and likely support sources
- Create and update organization’s fundraising plan and track performance toward goals
- Conduct research to identify prospects, prioritizing those that best align with ICNC’s mission, Theory of Change, and programming
- Write professional, persuasive, and effective proposals and other communications to secure funding for the organization’s operations
- Work with Chief Strategy and Incubation Officer to track and deliver on commitments to funding partners
- Establish and nurture relationships with organizations, corporations and individuals
- Work with CEO to plan, fundraise for, and implement growth of development department as staffing needs increase
- Establish systems to effectively track and share data
- Present the organization’s mission and goals to the public
- Compile presentation decks that can be shared with the board and stakeholders
- Lead fundraising initiatives and events
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in related field;
- Proven track record of success in fundraising;
- Ability to analyze financial reports;
- Experience with grant budgeting and reporting a plus;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and building constructive relationships with a range of people are mandatory;
- Positive, collaborative attitude with a passion for ICNC’s mission;
- Excellent time management and organizational skills;
- Able to work self-directedly to meet established goals and deadlines;
- Skilled coordinating a variety of projects simultaneously;
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed;
- High energy, outgoing, and pays attention to details;
- Active listener who can relate well with all types of people, builds rapport, constructive and effective relationships;
- Travel and use personal vehicle as necessary for work-related activities – mileage expenses are reimbursable;
- Strong interpersonal, decision-making, and leadership skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Office environment, but much time to be spent in face-to-face/virtual meetings, involving substantial local travel;
- A computer and workspace, along with access to all software and systems needed for in-office and remote work will be provided
POSITION STRUCTURE & BENEFITS INCENTIVES
- This is a full-time position; Monday-Friday, work schedule can vary; with the ability to work remote 80% of work week after initial training/orientation period;
- Starting annual salary range is $65K-$72K; commensurate with experience;
- Benefit incentives include: One week paid vacation to start and one week personal/sick time off, participation in group health insurance plan, SIMPLE IRA match, short and long term disability and life insurance, tuition reimbursement and professional development training, flexible spending accounts and employee assistance program;
