CAD Designer - Chicago, IL
POSITION SUMMARY:
A fence company is in need of a CAD Designer. Prepares detailed working diagrams of fence and bridge railing and other related product systems to include dimensions and reviews generated jobs for fabrication. The Detailer will prepare shop drawing, help estimate cost of shop labor and cost of material and verify dimension in field before fabrication by performing the following duties.

LANGUAGE ABILITY:

MATH ABILITY:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.

- Develops detailed design drawings and specifications for fence and bridge railing and other related product systems using computer-assisted (CAD) equipment.*
- Produce detailed drawings, plan sets with minimal supervision.*
- Follow CAD standards.*
- Checks final drawing to verify completeness, clarity and accuracy of drawing.*
- Coordinates with and consults other workers to design lay-out or detailed components and systems to resolve design and other problems.*
- Positions instructions and comments onto drawing.*
- Modifies and revises designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.*
- Responsible for field measuring project to aid in designs.
- Confirms dimensions of materials to be used and assigns numbers to the materials.*
- Operates computer-aided drafting equipment or conventional drafting station to produce designs, working drawings, charts, forms and records.*
- Coordinates structural and mechanical designs and determines a method of presentation in order to graphically present product plans.*
- Determines procedures and instructions to be followed according to design specifications and quantity of required materials.*
- Suggests to management any changes to designs that saves money and fabrication or installation time without impacting the integrity, fit, or quality of the finished product.*
- Maintains a library of all drawings produced.*
- Performs other duties consistent with the position as assigned.*
