Job Summary:
We are looking for a lead candymaker to join our growing company. This person will play a pivotal role in product production while supporting inventory management and product packaging.
The ideal candidate is passionate about food, well organized and has great attention to detail. This person is team-oriented, customer-focused, reliable, takes initiative and operates with high integrity and positivity. They prioritize food safety and can work quickly, yet safely.
Key Responsibilities, include but not limited to:
Culinary
- Prepare confections per recipe to ensure quality, consistency and on-brand aesthetic
- Temper chocolate and troubleshoot, as needed
- Understand brand standards to support quality control
- Portion and weigh finished product with minimal waste
- Maintain clean and sanitary work stations
- Track product, packaging and supply inventory
- Communicate inventory needs to owner
Packaging
- Package final product accurately, according to brand standards
- Assist with packaging customer orders in a timely manner
Additional responsibilities include
- Understand brand standards to proactively support quality control
- Execute opening/closing checklists
- Light computer work
- Ensures a clean, safe working environment
- Support special events and markets, including customer interaction, as needed
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed
- Additional duties to support the business, as needed
Qualifications
- Previous chocolate experience (must have)
- Previous confection experience (preferred)
- Pastry chef/student or equivalent experience
- Ability to stand for at least 8 hours
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Basic computer skills/MS365 proficiency
Certificate & Licensing Requirements
- City of Chicago Food Service Manager Certificate
- ServSafe Food Manager Certificate
