ICNC is a non-profit organization that works to strengthen the companies in the Kinzie Industrial Corridor on Chicago's Near West Side. In addition to representing and providing assistance to hundreds of companies in its community, ICNC owns and operates Make City, a small business incubator which houses 100 small business tenants in its 416,000 square foot facility.
ICNC also co-owns The Hatchery, a food and beverage manufacturing incubator in Chicago’s East Garfield Park neighborhood which assists food & beverage entrepreneurs grow their businesses. This facility is a one-stop-shop aiming to solve three major challenges in the industry: access to production space, financing, and resources.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Grant Writer and Donor Relations Specialist is responsible for a wide range of fund development which will include identifying and managing opportunities for grant proposals, as well as daily activities focused on identification, cultivation, solicitation, growth and stewardship of donor relationships. This is a full-time position and reports directly to the Fundraising Manager.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Grant Writing and Fundraising Administration
Communications and Administrative
· Work closely with Fundraising Manager to maintain and improve Salesforce donor database to track contributions, donor acknowledgements and create reports
· Perform other related tasks as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS
Office environment, but much time to be spent in face-to-face/virtual meetings, involving local travel with mileage reimbursed. ICNC will provide a computer and workspace along with access to all software and systems needed for in-office and remote work. A technology reimbursement will be provided
POSITION STRUCTURE & BENEFITS/INCENTIVES
· This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. Monday-Friday, work schedule can vary; with the ability to work remote up to 40-60% of work week after initial training/orientation period

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Grant Writing and Fundraising Administration
- Successfully understand and communicate organization’s mission, vision, history, programs goals and financial needs
- Research, identify and evaluate potential funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other grant-making sources
- Write high-quality, coherent, persuasive and compelling grant proposals and grant applications, narratives and letters of intent
- Develop and maintain comprehensive and organized records of grant opportunities, submissions, awards and deadlines in Salesforce
- Collaborate with team members and staff to gather necessary information and data for proposals and reporting
- Editing and proofreading proposals to ensure clarity, completeness, and compliance with grant requirements
- Monitor and report on the progress of funded projects to ensure accountability to funders
- Develop, maintain and expand relationships with funders and donors to enhance grant acquisition strategies
- Expand relationships with external constituents and key sectors
- Conduct yearly review and assessment of fund development portfolio and adjust as necessary
Communications and Administrative
· Work closely with Fundraising Manager to maintain and improve Salesforce donor database to track contributions, donor acknowledgements and create reports
· Perform other related tasks as assigned
Collaboration and Coordination
- Collaborate with ICNC’s program managers and leadership to understand funding needs and priorities
- Collaborate with team members in the organization to assist with fundraising projects and develop relationships with key stakeholders
- Work closely with finance to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of contributions and expenditures
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices and funding opportunities relevant ICNC’s mission and programs
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven track record in grant writing, donor solicitations and/or sales
- Comfortable making cold calls and setting up appointments
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with great follow-up skills
- Possess superior negotiation skills with ability to overcome common proposal objections
- High energy, outgoing, and a passion for ICNC’s mission is essential
- Experience working with large corporations is a plus
- Able to maintain strong, positive, collaborative working relationships
- Travel and use personal vehicle as necessary for work-related activities –mileage expenses are reimbursable
- Results driven and pushes self and others for results
- Excellent time management and strong organizational skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment to meet established goals and deadlines
- Active listener who can relate well with all types of people, builds rapport and effective relationships
- Effective in a variety of formal presentation settings, one-on-one, small and large groups with peers, subordinates and supervisors
- Skilled coordinating a variety of projects simultaneously
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility and creativity
- Knowledge of Salesforce is required in order to manage and maintain development data

POSITION STRUCTURE & BENEFITS/INCENTIVES

- Occasional evening and weekend work required for activities such as special events, seminars, or trade shows, with advance notice given
- Starting annual salary range is $52,942-$59,513 and commensurate with experience
- Benefit incentives include: two weeks paid vacation, one-week paid sick time off and twelve paid holidays, participation in group health insurance plan, simple IRA match, short and long term disability, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, professional development training, flexible spending accounts and employee assistance program
