We are a small but dynamic and innovative CPG located at 135 N Kedzie Chicago, start-up looking for a talented Manufacturing Production Assistant to join our growing team at our production facility. Our company is dedicated to creating high-quality and delicious snack products using only the best ingredients, all inspired by our family recipe. We are looking for someone who is passionate about snacks, and who is excited to help us change the world through better food that brings people together.
Currently, this role is part-time, for three to four days/week (mainly week days with extension into the weekends based on work flow and holiday schedule), with potential for this to turn into a full-time position as we continue to expand and with the right candidate.
The Role
As our Production Assistant, you will play a critical role in our company's success. You will be responsible for serving as the right-hand person for our Kitchen Manager and work alongside our additional kitchen staff. You will be responsible for working with our team to execute on all levels of snack production and preparation.
In this job you will be responsible for several bakery manufacturing activities. You must be willing and able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will need to be able to communicate and work effectively as part of a team and be flexible in assignments. You must be able to follow instructions (written & verbal), safely and accurately complete assigned duties, and maintain GMP standards and participate as part of the Food Defense Team.
Key Responsibilities
· Learning and responsibly running our manufacturing equipment, following all safety requirements
· Working alongside our assistant kitchen manager and production staff to follow kitchen operations and production schedules
· Respectfully support and follow direction from all managers and supervisors about performance.
· Follow all steps to ensure consistency in product quality.
· Ensure snacks are prepared to the highest standard
· Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including maintaining proper sanitation standards and documentation
· Ensure kitchen equipment is properly maintained and serviced.
· Completes tasks as directed with minimum supervision.
· Assisting in prepping and shipping orders when needed
Qualifications
● Proven experience as a Production Assistant or a similar role in the food industry
● Experience mixing and baking at a high-volume capacity
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
● Passion for food, sustainability, and did we mention, snacks?!
● Strong organization skills
● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
● Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
● Strong baking skills and knowledge of various cooking techniques
● Interest in packaged food production and manufacturing
● Excitement and passion to become part of a growing start-up business snack team and enthusiasm to help us grow
● Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
● Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting over surfaces.
● Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing ladders
● Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face mask, a hair/beard net, and gloves when required.
● Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment. (specifically tree nuts)
Education
● High school diploma or equivalent
● Culinary degree or certification is preferred
● ServSafe and ServSafe Allergen certification required
