Accounting Assistant/Project Accountant - Chicago, IL
We are a 72-year-old well-established family owned fence company looking for a motivated, trustworthy, and personable individual to join us. The ideal candidate should be able to work in a small team environment but be self-driven and on task. The position will focus on helping to maintain Accounts Receivable as well as supporting the Union and Payroll functions and the accounting department in general.

- Create and process customer invoices, waivers of Lien, 702/03 forms and other forms necessary in order to receive payment and respond to all account receivable inquiries in a prompt manner.
- Process monthly union reports and accurately track union pay rates and changes.
- Assist with payroll time card entry and payroll check creation, certified payrolls, and EEO reports.
- Initiate, track and maintain all records/files associated with collection activities for each account to include negotiated payment schedules, telephone call documentation and collection letters.
- Post customer checks in accounting software system and operate bank check deposit scanner.
- Research discrepancies to accurately process credits/debits to customer accounts as necessary.
- Maintains all records, files, and customer information in our accounting system.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree - Accounting preferred with 1+ year of experience in an administrative role
- Ability to read and write English, with Spanish proficiency a plus
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and apply concepts of basic algebra.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Windows 10, Microsoft Word & Microsoft Excel, have some knowledge of LCP Tracker and Textura, and quickly be able to learn other customer and project owner web portals.
