Bilingual Field Superintendent at Midwest Fence Corp - Chicago, IL

Summary: Oversees all construction operations performed by company employees to include goal setting, organization of activities, meeting objectives and ensuring services meet established standards by performing the following duties.

Education/Experience:
Associate's degree (B.A. / A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office and internet software.

Valid Driver's License
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

- Schedule and coordinate work crews.*
- Must be able to work with union employees within the guidelines of the collective bargaining agreement.*
- Maximize profit from field operations on every job, everyday.*
- Create long term plans for equipment development and expenditure.*
- Assign projects to most qualified field foreman and workers.*
- Evaluate each crew as an independent and separate Midwest Fence profit center. *
- Manage each project for most efficient crew size, fewest trips, fewest different foremen, and fewest vehicles.*
- Ensure every order is proofread and edited. Reject orders when necessary.
- Coordinate and cooperate with shop Superintendent.*
- Advance plan field work with emphasis on pre-screening orders with foremen.*
- Oversee scheduling and set daily strategy to minimize man hours, trucks, mileage and fuel consumption.*
- Ensure proper communication with customers regarding scheduling, delays, cancellations etc.*
- Minimize material waste, damage and shrinkage.*
- Plan equipment/materials needed for each job to reduce shop deliveries.*
- Submit daily manpower and equipment usage report.*
- Perform multiple daily field crew / site visits.*
- Ensure field workmanship meets Midwest Fence quality standards. Perform quality audits daily.*
- Ensure field work is performed in accordance with Midwest Fence safety standards. Perform safety audits daily.*
- Immediately report safety violations.*
- Verify time cards accuracy.*
- Ensure finished orders are completely filled out including accurate final quantities and change orders.*
- Ensure billing is turned in within 48 hours of project completion.*
- Provide guidance to fleet mechanics.*
- Monitor equipment rentals to ensure rental equipment is returned in a timely manner.*
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.*
