Bookkeeper - Chicago, IL
BOOKKEEPER JOB SUMMARY:
This position includes two key business functions at Midway Moving & Storage. As a Bookkeeper, this person handles most of the accounting needs of the company, including the preparation of financial statements, They are primarily responsible for generating and maintaining the integrity of the company’s accounting records. The Bookkeeper will help lead all accounting activities within the office and will ensure that business practices and processes are adhered to.
Essential functions of this position require the individual to be well versed in accounting operations and have the capability to identify and resolve problems. This person also provides critical administrative support to the President.
JOB DUTIES:
1. Administer and maintain company and accounting records
2. Prepare monthly financial statements and provides analysis
3. Reconcile monthly bank statements
4. Accounts Receivable/Billing
5. Account Payable
6. Manage the use of financial software and all related updates
7. Keep the company in compliance with taxes: federal and state corporate, payroll, sales, and any other applicable taxes
8. Verify payroll and related tax return preparation
9. Execute the Collection process
10. Acts as a backup to the person handling weekly Payroll
11. Handle daily financial matters including monitoring bank balances and lines of credit
12. Distribute accounting workload to staff as needed, including ensuring that accounts payable and installments are disbursed on a timely basis
13. Organize and secure company information, on paper and electronically
14. Protect customers and operations by keeping information confidential

● Ability to function well in a hands-on environment, and be willing to assume responsibilities outside of the job description
● Team-oriented. Willing and able to work with all staff to pursue the overall objectives of the company ● Ability to effectively prioritize and manage several projects and tasks

GOALS AND EXPECTATIONS:
1. Effectively administer the accounting functions of the company with an emphasis on ensuring that all monies owed to the company are collected and accounted for in a timely fashion
2. Review all Accounting department policies and procedures. Identify areas of improvement and assist the Director in implementing changes as required
3. Participate in the process of integrating QuickBooks with the company’s CRM program for Storage Customer accounting
QUALIFICATIONS:
● 5 years of Bookkeeping experience
● Minimum of 3 years using QuickBooks accounting software
● 3 years of experience with both Accounts Payable and Billing
● Expert proficiency with Chrome (gmail)
