The Hatchery Chicago is a non-profit incubator that helps food & beverage entrepreneurs grow their businesses. It is a one-stop-shop aiming to solve three major challenges in the industry: access to production space, financing, and resources. The Hatchery is set in one of the largest food & beverage incubators in the U.S. and is among the first to be built from the ground up.
Kitchen Supervisor will be:

Your availability is flexible and you’re interested in learning new things. You are highly organized and must be comfortable with building tracking tools and logging information. You are able to work independently, without direct supervision and take ownership of the environment in which you work.

This is a non-exempt position. Must have flexible schedule. Early morning, evening and weekend hours expected.

Kitchen Supervisor will be:

Your primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work with Hatchery operations team to manage food production area of facility
- Continuously improve SOPs and train all facility residents on sanitary operations, safety and kitchen maintenance
- Develop systems and enforce sanitary food handling methods and kitchen use in accordance with local, state and federal law, standard operating procedures and Hatchery policies
- Inspect Shared Kitchen equipment and help with cleaning and coordinating service vendors
- Organize storage area, allocate spaces and insure areas are kept clean, secure and residents are following storage SOPs
- Manage all kitchen tracking systems including temp and usage logs
- Manage cleaning and storage supplies, and refill supplies as needed
- Assist with vendor deliveries and service visits
- Identify new procedures to improve facility, kitchen and resident operations
- Resolve day-to-day problems with residents and proactively address issues to prevent them from escalating
- Work with Hatchery team on kitchen-related projects for partners, corporate sponsors and residents
- Provide tours to prospective kitchen residents and support orientation for new residents
- Offer exceptional customer service and support to kitchen residents and teams
Your skills and experience should include:
- High school diploma or equivalent; college/culinary degree preferred
- Work experience in a kitchen or sanitation management role
- Work experience in a customer facing role preferred
- Comfortable using Google Docs, Word, Excel and online reservation systems
- Culinary or commercial food production experience a plus
- Experience with managing Food Safety programs a plus
- ServSafe Handlers or Managers certification
Salary range:
$35,000-40,000/year
