ICNC Wins SBA Competition
On August 4, 2015, the ICNC Incubator was named one of the winners of the U.S. Small Business Administration's (SBA) Growth Accelerator Fund Competition. President Obama made the announcement at the White House in a speech about innovation, entrepreneurship, and other topics. Over 400 applications were judged by more than 40 business experts and the 80 winners represent 39 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
ICNC will receive $50,000 to expand its services to food entrepreneurs including providing additional technical assistance and incubator space that is conducive to food manufacturing. This is part of ICNC's longer-term strategy to further build out its food assistance program. Food manufacturing is important to our incubator, to the neighborhood, and to the city of Chicago, and we are excited to use this opportunity to give even more people a chance to succeed in their growing food businesses.
