Baker & Kitchen Assistant (Internship) - Chicago, IL

Fueled by AF manufactures a plant based protein bite. What makes us unique is that we work with people with disabilities.

This intern will be needed in the production and packaging area. Their responsibilities include: kitchen basics, maintain production organization, and make sure packaging is presentable and the best for the company. They will need to be able to work with people with disabilities and properly communicate. Bring packages to be shipping center, help read excel sheet to fill orders.​ 

Objectives:
This individual can look forward to a hands on experience involving everything from producing the product to packaging it, to helping fill orders. The skill to be able to communicate to a unique population, and learn how to properly manage with it comes to a diverse population.

Skills + Requirements:
  • Be over the age of 18
  • Have ServSafe Food Handler Certificate (or be willing to obtain prior to starting)
  • Have effective communication on and offsite
  • A basic understanding of Microsoft Excel to read orders
  • Sufficient math skills to make sure recipes are created properly
  • Well organized, maintain cleanliness, and the ability to work under pressure
  • A 2-4 hour stage (trial run)
  • This person must be able to travel (a valid DL and access to a car is a plus but not necessary)
  • Food Safe Clothing requirement- closed toe shoes, clean shirt and pants with no rips or tears, groomed hair (if long it has to be pulled back)

Compensation:
  • Interns will submit their time sheet on a biweekly schedule and their internship stipend will also be given to them on a biweekly schedule.
  • Interns are considered independent contractors and they will need to complete a W9 form; please note, no taxes are taken out of your stipend check.

Timeline:
Anticipated Start Date: 5/3/2021
Anticipated End Date: 7/31/2021

Schedule:
Number of Hours per Week: 10-20 hr/wk
Days and Hours: Currently this is flexible
Work Location: The Hatchery @ 135 N. Kedzie Ave. Chicago, IL 60612
