Pastry Cook - Chicago, IL

Dolci Amori is a gourmet, high end Italian pastry shop with 6 location in Chicagoland.  They create artful pastries that combine classic European traditions with modern flavors for the contemporary palette. Dolci Amori provides a variety of carefully crafted creations, Dolci Amori prides itself with outstanding customer service and total quality in every aspect of operations and the customer experience. We are seeking passionate and joyful individuals to join our high performing pastry team, create Italian Pastries and be trained on Dolci Amori exceptional product quality and creativity. Position available is for a experienced pastry cooks. All pastry cooks report to Executive Chef. Positions are full-time, weekend shifts are required. Dolci Amori offers qualified candidates a competitive benefits package, including, sick time, and vacation as well as health care options.

Experience:
Pastry degree or certificate plus 1+ years of experience.

Job Requirements:

-City of Chicago Food Handler certification (Advanced level pastry cooks would be required to obtain a City of Chicago Certified Foodservice Manager certificate)
-Must possess a basic knowledge of weight and volume conversions
-Must be able to follow and complete a defined production list
-Ability to produce a quality product from a scratch recipe on a consistent basis
-Outstanding interpersonal communication skills; be able to collaborate with a team
-Must possess the ability to work under pressure and with a sense of urgency; be flexible and able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
-Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks
-Must have the capacity to react positively to constructive criticism, take responsibility for mistakes and learn from them
-Understanding of food costs and cost control principles is preferred.
-Basic to moderate knowledge of operating all pastry equipment and of pastry fundamentals, methods, and techniques is required.

Job Functions:

-Scale and mix ingredients; prepare and execute bulk dessert recipes, execute tea prep and service
-Produce glazes, buttercreams, curds, and other pastry items
-Complete retail and wholesale customer orders
-Prep and decorate Italian pastries
-Pack items for distribution to all Dolci Amori locations
-Performs other duties as requested, such as storing daily ingredient and supply deliveries, moving supplies and equipment, sanitation requirements and inventory
-Maintain communication and foster team atmosphere with the Dolci Amori Front of House staff
