SAGE Dining Services® is seeking a prep server to join our established team at a nursery - 8th grade day school just north of Wrigleyville, easily accessible from public transit. SAGE offers weekly pay, continuous training, and room to grow in the company.
This position will prep salads, set up the salad bar, serve lunch from the hot line and break down the front of house after service. Serving our community safely is paramount, so familiarity with HACCP guidelines is preferred, but we are happy to train those who come ready to learn new things! You will be joining a team who have mostly been with us for 4+ years.

This position will prep salads, set up the salad bar, serve lunch from the hot line and break down the front of house after service. - We are located north of Wrigley, near the corner of Broadway & Irving Park
- Our schedule is 6:00AM-2:30PM, Monday-Friday
- We are closed on all major holidays, as well as throughout the summer months
- This position is responsible for preparing our four scratch composed salads every day, as well as serving from one of our two hot lines. This is a hands-on cooking role
- This position supports our self-serve salad bar, as well as our dishroom
- We serve breakfast & lunch to a population of around 650 people a day, mostly Kindergarden-8th grade kids
- Everyone in our kitchen works together, ensuring kitchen cleanliness and organization (i.e. garbage removal, putting dishes away)
- SAGE offers uniforms, PTO and medical benefits (after 90 days)
- We work with all age groups, so you'll need to be able to talk to 4 year olds and 70 year olds easily
- We're a small crew, so the ability to work together, with little to no ego, take direction and work to the clock is hugely important. When it's time for lunch, it's TIME FOR LUNCH. Hungry kids are grumpy kids.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday - 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Available overtime for catering events with prior written notice.
- Follows the school calendar, so summers are off!
- Pay Type: $16.00 Hourly

What you'll do:
- Ensure that all food is appropriately displayed and visually appealing.
- Interact cheerfully with SAGE guests and Team Members and provide service with a smile.
- Prepare assigned menu items in strict accordance with SAGE recipes.
- Clean, restock, and replenish serving lines and stations to ensure our guests enjoy amazing dining experiences.
- Clean all work areas and customer service areas on an ongoing basis.
- Use proper food handling, storage, and sanitation techniques always (HACCP).
- Assist in training new culinary Team Members.
- Endure exposure to extreme temperatures; intense heat and freezing cold.
- Adapt to additional duties as assigned by management.
What you'll need:
- Experience as a Prep Cook or Cook preferred, but not required.
- Ability to understand and execute recipes and instructions in detail.
- Ability to properly set up a buffet or serving station.
- Experience in customer service strongly preferred, but not required.
- Food safety certifications as required by jurisdiction.
