Sales Support Specialist
Reports to: Director of Sales
Modern Sprout is a Chicago-based company that designs, manufactures and distributes innovative indoor and urban gardening products through both wholesale and direct to consumer channels. Modern Sprout’s product collection currently includes hydroponic planters, grow lights, herb and flower grow kits, seed starter kits, indoor bulb kits and garden accessories. They have been selected as one of Oprah’s Favorite Things twice, featured on the Today Show, and covered by numerous other print and online publications including Food & Wine, Real Simple, Clean Eating and more.
Currently, Modern Sprout can be found on the shelves at national retailers such as Target, Crate & Barrel, Nordstrom, Anthropologie, and at over 2,000 independent retailers across the country. Modern Sprout launched in 2013 via Kickstarter, and has grown to include over 25 employees in 15,000 SF of office/warehouse space in Chicago’s Nearwest Industrial Corridor (West Town/Brewery District).
Modern Sprout is seeking a passionate, driven and hardworking individual to fill the Sales Administrator role. This position will work closely with the Sales Director and Account Managers and be responsible for maintaining the day-to-day processes that keep our Specialty Wholesale, Key Account and Corporate Gifting business operating smoothly. This includes regular interaction with retailers, sales reps and buyers, providing excellent customer service and communication internally and externally. Our ideal candidate is someone who loves organizing and process driven work, but also thrives on providing excellent service and support to customers. Familiarity with wholesale B2B retail business is preferred, with experience working with the Specialty/Independent retail channel and Rep Groups a plus.

Responsibilities:
- Customer Service – respond to customer needs, specifically Specialty Channel retailers and sales reps. Providing tracking information, responding to availability inquiries, resolving damage claims, providing product knowledge and support, and other customer related communications.
- Manage wholesale customer facing email inboxes – in addition to responding to customer service inquiries, routing/escalating emails to internal team members as needed, including inputting leads into the CRM and qualifying Corporate Gifting inquiries.
- Maintain Specialty Channel communication tools, including product availability, sku/description files, image files, rep contacts and territory assignments, updating as needed based on product availability, planned promotions and new product launches.
- Maintain Faire.com and B2B listings, updating as needed based on product availability, planned promotions and new product launches.
- Ensure sales targets in designated channels are achieved and report any deviations.
- Develop and maintain sales reports, such as order activity, customer service claims and issues, sales rep activities and needs.
- Support National Accounts by maintaining sku/item catalogs, updating as needed, creating and uploading sku information for partners, and completing paperwork for new accounts.
- Support Tradeshow activities, including sending samples, scheduling travel, coordinating with showrooms on marketing requests, and attending tradeshows as needed in a sales role.
- Support Sales Operations as needed on order entry, scheduling and processing
- Other duties as assigned
- Will be part of a multi person team and will be cross trained on other duties to step in when manager/ leads are out
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED, BA/BS preferred
- 2-3 years experience in customer service wholesale B2B support preferred
- Previous experience working with Independent Retailers and Rep Groups in Consumer Goods of the Home and Gift industry is a Plus
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with an ERP system
- Strict attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Responsible, ethical and honest
- Positive, upbeat and approachable
