Service Technician - Chicago, IL
Service Technician is needed for a medical supply company located near Damen and Fulton in Chicago.
GENERAL:
The Service Technician is responsible for the delivery, pick up and servicing of Durable Medical Equipment (DME), to customers/patients and medical facilities, in a timely and professional manner. Service includes educating patients and/or caregivers on the safe operation and use of equipment. The Service Technician will also be responsible for product care and maintenance, product repair, product cleaning, warehouse duties, vehicle care and maintenance, and tracking of inventory at all times.

SUPERVISES:
No formal supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• This is a full-time position with overtime including some evening and weekend hours.
• Delivers and sets up equipment in accordance with pre-arranged schedule to the customer/patient and in a professional manner.
• Instructs and demonstrates patient and caregiver on proper and safe use of equipment.
• Loads and unloads equipment in an orderly and secure manner and in accordance with set policies and procedures.
• Completes vehicle safety checks in accordance with set procedures.
• Maintains vehicle cleanliness and supplies in accordance with set policies and procedures.
• Drives safely and defensively, obeying all traffic laws.
• Provides safe environment for the patient/customer at all times.
• Checks electrical outlets for power and proper ground when delivering electrically powered Durable Medical Equipment, in addition to observing entire environment/surroundings for any concerns in accordance with set procedures.
• Completes required paperwork upon delivery, pick up, servicing, etc., of equipment and follows and adheres to HIPAA guidelines.
• Rotates on-call availability with other Service Technicians, including nights and weekends.
• When requested, cleans, disinfects, repairs and quality checks all equipment, as required and in accordance with set procedures.
• Perform other duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Two years of customer service or comparable experience required
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Strong customer-service orientation
• Willingness and ability to work extended workweek, including some evenings and weekends
• Work/drive safely in all aspects of job
• Must have valid and current driver license in the state in which you reside
• Previous driving/delivery experience preferred
• Previous DME experience is preferred, but not required; training is provided
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Work around patients in healthcare facilities and patient home environments
• General exposure to hospitals and surgery centers
• Sitting, standing & driving for prolonged periods of time – up to/exceeding 8 hours per day
• Ability to safely lift, push or pull up to 150 lbs.
• General/mild exposure to hazardous chemicals (non-flammable/nontoxic)
• Fast paced environment, subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice responsibilities
SALARY:
$45000 - $48000 a year
