In addition to representing and assisting hundreds of companies in its community, ICNC owns and operates Make City, a small business incubator which houses 100 small business tenants in its 416,000 square foot facility.
ICNC also co-owns the Hatchery, a food and beverage manufacturing incubator in Chicago’s East Garfield Park neighborhood which assists food & beverage entrepreneurs to grow their businesses. This facility is a one-stop shop aiming to solve three major challenges in the industry: Access to production space, financing, and resources.

The Shared Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for organizing kitchen processes to maintain high quality, safety, efficiency, and profitability, ensuring the commercial kitchens run smoothly by maintaining clean and friendly work environment for kitchen tenants. This is a full-time position and reports to the Director of Operations and manages three direct reports.

This position requires spending most of the day walking throughout the Hatchery food incubator and the surrounding area, standing, bending and lifting heavy items (up to 50 pounds)

Responsibilities
The Shared Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for organizing kitchen processes to maintain high quality, safety, efficiency, and profitability, ensuring the commercial kitchens run smoothly by maintaining clean and friendly work environment for kitchen tenants. This is a full-time position and reports to the Director of Operations and manages three direct reports.
- Work with Hatchery facilities team to manage food production area of facility
- Continuously improve SOPs and train all facility tenants and staff on sanitary operations, safety, and kitchen maintenance
- Develop systems and enforce sanitary food handling methods and kitchen use in accordance with local, state and federal law, standard operating procedures and Hatchery policies
- Manage, train, and coach Kitchen Facilities Assistants and answer any questions that may arise
- Utilize kitchen booking software to monitor reservations and billing activities.
- Inspect kitchens and shared areas to ensure SOPs are being followed
- Ensure kitchen equipment is maintained properly and is being used safely
- Manage cold and dry storage areas by allocating space to tenants accordingly and bill and track such activities in database.
- Oversee day-to-day logs and checklists for various food safety policies such as refrigeration temperatures
- Assist with vendor deliveries and service visits for services such as trash removal, pest control, equipment preventive maintenance and kitchen chemicals
- Resolve day-to-day issues with tenants and proactively address issues to prevent them from escalating
- Work with Chief Facilities Officer and Director of Operations on departmental budget, goals, and strategy.
- Submit monthly reports on kitchen revenue and usage monthly as needed
- Offer exceptional customer service and support to kitchen tenants and team members
- Perform other related tasks as required
Qualifications
- At least two years of related experience working in a commercial kitchen environment or sanitation role and some previous supervisory experience
- Must have Food Managers Certification including City of Chicago Food Service Sanitation Certificate (or able to obtain within 60 days of employment)
- Culinary or commercial food production experience or managing a food safety program is a plus
- Strong administrative skills including knowledge of Microsoft products and database management
- Must be comfortable with building tracking tools and logging information
- Understanding of food service chemicals, operating and troubleshoot commercial kitchen equipment
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with colleagues and tenants
- Excellent customer service experience
- Able to work independently and sometimes without direct supervision
- Pays great attention to details and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Open to learn new things very quickly and is comfortable in a fast-paced, changing environment

Position Structure and Benefits
- This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position; current shift is 8:30am-5:00pm; Sunday through Thursday; this position is ineligible to work remotely
- Occasional evening and weekend work required for activities such as special events, seminars, or trade shows, with advance notice given
- Starting annual salary range is salary band 4, $52,942-$59,513; commensurate with experience
