Cashier, Line cooks, Prep Cooks, Dishwasher, & More @ Sinya Restaurant - Chicago, IL

Sinya Mediterranean Restaurant 3725 W. Chicago Ave (At Ridgeway)

Pay:
$16.00 plus for experience
 
Job Type:
Full-time and part-time positions available.

Hours of Operation:
11:00 AM - 8:00 PM
 
Cooks (Prep and Line) Responsibilities:
  • Provide quality and detailed presentation to all food items in a timely manner.
  • Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period.
  • Identifying dietary specifications, including preparation, execution, and presentation when specified. 
  • Know and comply consistently with standard portion size, cooking methods, quality standards, kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
  • Prevent the spoilage and contamination of foods by implementing proper sanitation practices while ensuring compliance with policy and health regulations.
  • Maintain a clean work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.
  • Assist in the daily cleaning of the pantry, cooking line, prep kitchen, dish area, reach-in cooler and prep area.
  • Report any maintenance or repairs needed to manager
  • 1 year of previous experience in a restaurant and/or culinary experience in a high volume, full service restaurant is preferred.
  • Time management and organizational ability required for high quality food production.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction or supervision to complete assigned tasks.
  • Servsafe or City of Chicago Sanitation License (Requirement)
  • Trained in knife skills and basic kitchen equipment usage.
  • Able to multitask in a dynamic, and fast paced environment.
  • Flexible schedule, able to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays when needed.
 
Cashier Responsibilities:
  • Point of sales (POS) experience
  • Cash and credit card experience
  • Drawer balancing
  • Dry goods inventory
 
Dishwasher Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for cleaning and sanitation of kitchen and dishwashing area.
  • Responsible for inspecting pots, pans and utensils prior to releasing to storage area.
  • Must be able to read and understand company's SSOP for all equipment including use of PPE
  • Maintains the dishwashing area in sanitary conditions
 
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 1 year experience in food manufacturing environment a PLUS
  • Ability to be a team player
  • Bi-lingual Spanish/English is a plus
  • Knowledge of sanitation in a prepared food preferred
  • Ability to adapt to a high paced environment and follow protocols
 
Skills:
  • Ability to stand a minimum of 4-6 hours per day
  • Ability to left heavy pots, pans and equipment parts up to 40-50lb continuously
