Truck Mechanic - Chicago, IL
Midway Moving and Storage, Inc. located at 4100 West Ferdinand Street, Chicago, IL 60624 is in search of a mechanic.
Equipment includes:
International trucks, flat beds, power tools, Bobcat, auger and more.
Summary:
Performs repairs on vehicles, orders parts as needed and completes work orders by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Repair and maintain a diverse fleet of light to heavy duty trucks from a variety of truck manufacturers.*
2. Determine vehicle’s condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.*
3. Do routine maintenance by following a checklist for the inspection process.*
4. Take trucks for inspection and work to make sure they pass inspection.
5. Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders and verifying receipt.*
6. Use diagnostic equipment and interpret vehicle error codes.*
7. Maintain vehicle appearance by cleaning and washing.*
8. Maintain vehicle repair and maintenance records.*
9. Cleans and organizes work space.*
10. CDL driver’s license is a PLUS
11. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.*
12. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Hourly Rate:
$20-$30 per hour (depending on experience), attractive benefits including profit sharing.
