ICNC is a non-profit organization that works to strengthen the companies in the Kinzie Industrial Corridor on Chicago's Near West Side. In addition to representing and providing assistance to hundreds of companies in its community, ICNC owns and operates Make City, a small business incubator which houses 100 small business tenants in its 416,000 square foot facility.
ICNC also co-owns The Hatchery, a food and beverage manufacturing incubator in Chicago’s East Garfield Park neighborhood which assists food & beverage entrepreneurs grow their businesses. This facility is a one-stop-shop aiming to solve three major challenges in the industry: access to production space, financing, and resources.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Fundraising Manager (FM) is responsible for generating and retaining grant and sponsorship revenue for the organization. In collaboration with the CEO and the management team, the FM will create and implement the organization’s annual development plan. The FM identifies and pursues funding opportunities from corporate, philanthropic, and government sources and assures that those relationships are appropriately stewarded across the organization. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
This is a new department, and the successful candidate will be expected to lead the creation of standard operating procedures (including cross-department goal setting and collaboration; donor relationship stewarding; and the development and use of metrics and reporting to track progress toward goals). While the CEO and other senior staff will work with the Fundraising Manager, the FM must bring the expertise and motivation necessary to initiate these activities and see them through to completion in a short timeframe.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Understand and effectively communicate ICNC’s mission and Theory of Change to relevant stakeholders
• Work with program staff to understand organization’s activities and likely support sources
• Create and update organization’s fundraising plan and track performance toward goals
• Conduct research to identify prospects, prioritizing those that best align with ICNC’s mission, Theory of Change, and programming
• Write professional, persuasive, and effective proposals and other communications to secure funding for the organization’s operations
• Work with Chief Strategy and Incubation Officer to track and deliver on commitments to funding partners
• Establish and nurture relationships with organizations, corporations and individuals
• Work with CEO to plan, fundraise for, and implement growth of development department as staffing needs increase
• Input data in Salesforce
• Establish systems to effectively track and share data
• Present the organization’s mission and goals to the public
• Compile presentation decks that can be shared with the board and stakeholders
• Identify new funding opportunities for the organization and its members
• Lead fundraising initiatives and events
• Perform other related tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or five years of equivalent experience
• Proven track record of success in fundraising
• Ability to analyze financial reports
• Strong PowerPoint development and presentation skills
• Experience with grant budgeting and reporting a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and building constructive relationships with a range of people are mandatory
• Positive, collaborative attitude with a passion for ICNC’s mission
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Able to work self-directed to meet established goals and deadlines
• Skilled coordinating a variety of projects simultaneously
• Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
• High energy, outgoing, and pays attention to details
• Active listener who can relate well with all types of people, builds rapport, constructive and effective relationships
• Travel and use personal vehicle as necessary for work-related activities – mileage expenses are reimbursable
• Strong interpersonal, decision-making, and leadership skills
WORKING CONDITIONS
Office environment, but much time to be spent in face-to-face/virtual meetings, involving local travel with mileage reimbursed. ICNC will provide a computer and workspace along with access to all software and systems needed for in-office and remote work. A technology reimbursement will be provided.
POSITION STRUCTURE & BENEFITS/INCENTIVES
• This is a full-time, salaried exempt position. Monday-Friday, work schedule can vary and may include evening and weekend hours; with the ability to work remote up to 40-80% of work weekafter initial training/orientation period
• Occasional evening and weekend work required for activities such as special events, seminars, or trade shows, with advance notice given
• Starting annual salary range is $63,242-$71,194 (Salary Band 6), commensurate with experience
• Benefit incentives include: one-week paid vacation to start, one week personal/sick time off and twelve paid holidays, participation in group health insurance plan, simple IRA match, short- and long-term disability, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, professional development training, flexible spending accounts and employee assistance program
• This position is eligible to participate in ICNC’s Great Game of Business growth incentive bonus plan
