In addition to representing and providing assistance to hundreds of companies in its community, ICNC owns and operates Make City, a small business incubator which houses 100 small business tenants in its 416,000 square foot facility.
ICNC also co-owns The Hatchery, a food and beverage manufacturing incubator in Chicago’s East Garfield Park neighborhood which assists food & beverage entrepreneurs grow their businesses. This facility is a one-stop-shop aiming to solve three major challenges in the industry: access to production space, financing, and resources.

POSITION ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Kitchen Facility Assistant is responsible for ensuring the commercial retail kitchens run smoothly by maintaining a safe, clean, and friendly work environment for our kitchen tenants. This person will be a quick learner that is comfortable in a fast-paced environment with constant change and also passionate and excited about helping entrepreneurs grow their food and beverage businesses. This is a full-time position and reports directly to the Director of Operations.

This position requires spending most of the day walking throughout the Hatchery food incubator and the surrounding area, standing, bending and lifting heavy items (up to 50 pounds)

The Kitchen Facility Assistant is responsible for ensuring the commercial retail kitchens run smoothly by maintaining a safe, clean, and friendly work environment for our kitchen tenants. This person will be a quick learner that is comfortable in a fast-paced environment with constant change and also passionate and excited about helping entrepreneurs grow their food and beverage businesses. This is a full-time position and reports directly to the Director of Operations.
- Help to manage and enforce kitchen SOPs within the facility for both private and shared kitchens
- Support tenants in maintaining cleanliness in main shared kitchen which includes daily cleaning of dish room and equipment, sweeping, mopping, handling trash/recycling and deep cleaning as scheduled
- Check tenants out of kitchen stations and verifying cleanliness after each use
- Allocate storage equipment rentals as needed and ensure a clean and safe storage environment for tenants
- Record all activities as they relate to Food Safety and facility maintenance
- Uphold health and safety regulations in accordance with local, state, and federal law by following standard operating procedures and policies
- Proactively address tenant needs as they arise and promptly respond any inquiries
- Complete daily checklists, manage storage supplies and perform other kitchen-related tasks as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience working in commercial kitchen environment
- Must have Food Managers Certification including City of Chicago Food Service Sanitation Certificate (or able to obtain within 60 days of employment)
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with colleagues and tenants
- Excellent customer service experience
- Able to work independently and sometimes without direct supervision
- Flexibility in learning new things and is detail-oriented
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Understand food service chemicals, operating and troubleshoot commercial kitchen equipment is a plus
- Working knowledge of computer applications, programs and features
- Ability to use basic hand tools for basic kitchen repairs such as hanging shelves or painting

POSITION STRUCTURE & BENEFITS INCENTIVES
- This is a full-time, hourly position; evening, weekend and holiday shifts required; this position is ineligible to work remotely
- Shifts are: 2:00pm-10:30pm and 10am-6:30pm – Sunday and Monday OFF. Days and times subject to change to accommodate for vacations, holidays, events, etc.
- Starting hourly range is $15.80-$16.27 per hour; commensurate with experience and with a potential merit of increase after 90 days of employment
