ICNC is a non-profit organization that works to strengthen the companies in the Kinzie Industrial Corridor on Chicago's Near West Side. In addition to representing and providing assistance to hundreds of companies in its community, ICNC owns and operates Make City, a small business incubator which houses 100 small business tenants in its 416,000 square foot facility.
ICNC also co-owns the Hatchery, a food and beverage manufacturing incubator in Chicago’s East Garfield Park neighborhood which assists food & beverage entrepreneurs grow their businesses. This facility is a one-stop-shop aiming to solve three major challenges in the industry: access to production space, financing, and resources.

POSITION ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Illinois Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at ICNC is part of a statewide and national SBDC network that provides no-cost business advising and education to all small businesses including start-ups and existing companies. The Center Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the SBDC including providing business advising, training services, educational services, and tracking performance. The position necessitates a close working relationship with community, businesses, economic development and industry leaders to align resources, programming and training for regional prosperity and sustainability. This position reports directly to the ICNC Programs Manager.

Office environment and ICNC will provide a computer and workspace along with access to all software and systems needed for in-office and remote work. Much time to be spent in face-to-face/virtual meetings, involving local travel (mileage expenses are reimbursable). A technology reimbursement will be provided

Client Advising, Training and Events/Workshops
- Analyze business and industry data in finance, marketing, management and operations
- Provide guidance in the development of business plans and financial strategies using marketing strategies
- Perform financial reviews including calculating and interpreting historical and projected financial ratios
- Identify challenges, suggest plans for improvement and make recommendations using organizational tools/templates for business plans and marketing strategies
- Provide insights on how to generate and accelerate growth/expansion, innovation, increased productivity and management improvement
- Identify high-impact client prospects and conceive, initiate and complete consulting engagements with them
- Conduct onboarding financial and business plan reviews for new members and tenants
- Create pathways for small businesses to gain access to federal and state grants
- Assist in navigating licensing, grant and/or loan applications
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Small Business Development Center
- Properly report activity in NeoSerra (CRM), which includes, creating/organizing client profiles, outreach to inactive members and meeting monthly goals
- Complete monthly and quarterly reporting as requested by the IL SBDC
- Work closely with the Programs Manager to identify unique content for classes, workshops and networking events
- Support in hosting events, seminars, workshops, classes, pitch sessions and networking events
Community Relations and Collaboration
- Create necessary and sustainable training that provides small businesses with skills and knowledge to be successful
- Establish and maintain relationships with community groups, funders, agencies, educational institutions and businesses
- Participate in collaborative meetings and events that may assist in creating action plans, and sharing of best practices
- Perform other related duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (business or economic development, marketing) or 4-years of relevant experience
- Entrepreneurial experience a plus, as is the understanding of small business issues across industries such as business management, finance, human resources and operations
- 2+ years' experience developing and/or reviewing financial documents, business plans and an understanding of grant/loan application processes
- High energy, outgoing, and a passion for ICNC’s mission is essential
- Strong communication, follow-up and customer service skills are mandatory
- A proven track record of successfully developing and maintaining business, community and industry partner relationships
- Strong writing and grammatical skills is a plus
- Working knowledge of CRM databases, virtual meeting platforms and intermediate Internet research techniques
- Willingness to work flexible, varying hours, including evenings and weekends as needed Comfortable hosting virtual, hybrid or in person workshops, utilizing seminar/meeting software, cameras and other technology
- Excellent time management and strong organizational skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and meet established goals and deadlines
- Willing to travel and use personal vehicle as necessary for work-related activities

POSITION STRUCTURE & BENEFITS/INCENTIVES
- This is a full-time, salaried position; Monday-Friday, work schedule can vary; with the ability to work remote up to 40% of work week
- Starting annual salary range is $55,600K-$62,550K; commensurate with experience
- Benefit incentives include: one week paid vacation to start, one week personal/sick time off and twelve paid holidays, participation in group health insurance plan, simple IRA match, short and long term disability, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, professional development training, flexible spending accounts and employee assistance program
- This position is eligible to participate in ICNC’s Great Game of Business growth incentive bonus plan
