In addition to representing and providing assistance to hundreds of companies in its community, ICNC owns and operates Make City, a small business incubator which houses 100 small business tenants in its 416,000 square foot facility. ICNC will open The Hatchery Chicago, a new food and beverage manufacturing incubator, later this year.
Position Activities and Responsibilities:
The Education and Diversity Outreach Coordinator position is a part-time (24 hrs. a week) grant funded position. The goal is to support the development of entrepreneurship education and to implement an outreach strategy to engage women and minority entrepreneurs. The position reports to the Illinois Small Business Development Center Director.

Specific tasks include but are not limited to:
- Performs online and in-person research to assist in the development of comprehensive entrepreneurship education programming
- Actively pursues new relationships with economic development organizations and community based organizations in the City of Chicago who offers services to emerging and established entrepreneurs
- Serves as the point of contact and representative of ICNC at entrepreneurship related events in the City of Chicago
- Assumes leadership in tracking data related to program grant outcomes and evaluation
- Oversee logistics of entrepreneurship education sessions as directed
- Maintains client records and program tracking on the required database system
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of post-secondary education
- Experience in community outreach, event planning, and or public relations
- Strong communication skills, both written and public speaking
- Ability to work in fast-paced, team environment
- Self-starter that is collaborative, energetic, creative, proactive, and responsible
- Strong business acumen and knowledge of entrepreneurship essentials; Entrepreneurial experience a plus
Working Conditions:
Casual, 6,000 sq ft. office environment, shared with a full-time, part-time, and intern staff of fourteen.
Position Structure and Benefit Incentives:
- This is a 10-month, part-time position; 24 hours per week; (flexible schedule) some evenings will be required
- Starting hourly range is $14.00 - $16.00; commensurate with experience
- Benefit incentives includes: Six (6) paid holidays, three (3) paid vacation days (accrued), three (3) personal/sick days (prorated), and training and career development opportunities. Travel and food reimbursement will be provided upon approval
